This corner shows you the ugly mugs who work in the Belfast shop and in the mail order section - all the guys have different skill sets and their own Customers who treat them as their personal slaves / information portals - why read a manual?? NO WAY! Just call Dave Mc or Matt, our resident geeks instead - life's too short for manuals! PS why can we not get girls to work with us??? :-{

Dave Mc

Dave - IT Manager, General Manager Belfast, Dad, Geek and font of all knowledge. We nicked Dave from an IT background and he has now been with us for 9 years (holding out for the 10 year watch!) Dave has (does) worked on the shop floor, in mail order, in IT, and on Multi Room, so you may see him in the shop or he may just be hiding in his IT grotto 2 floors up ! If you have a query on multi-room systems, he's your man. Dave listens to mainly metal tunes and is a part-time drummer. He did this section of the website - but we have modified it without him knowing so please don't mention to him that you know he drives a 4 door Laguna or you don't stand a chance of getting that discount you were looking for! (he used to have a Honda 50 so I guess it's an improvement). But honestly - font of all knowledge Mc Keown is our leader in Ireland!

Kenny

Kenny - Has been with us for 4 years and is our IT manager. He looks after all internet, telephone sales and mail order and makes sure that all your parcels get to you on time. Kenny is always on our 04890 33 00 44 number (from ROI) and his skype name is kennymailorder - Want a parcel shipped to Timbuktu and you don't know who to call ???? Kenny has a nice black modified fast car and likes his "metal", loves his far away holidays and is a Monitor Audio fan!

Matt

Matt - Matt deals with all our servicing issues, from getting your stuff fixed, to returns to suppliers - however he is happiest chatting away on the shop floor as He is Mr. product knowledge, so is very good with technical enquiries and he loves his A/V. You would have to, if you had a 42" TV and a MONSTER Denon AV receiver in your bedroom !!!! Matt has a wide range of musical tastes, but his preference would be the harder side of rock.

Paddy

Paddy - Paddy is our latest recruit. Paddy is a self-diagnosed Emo guy. He was a previous customer who kept checking in with us to see when a job was available. He's our resident audiophile and loves his 2 channel. We all love our 2 channel in here, but Paddy has an obsession about Hi-Fi.

2^Dolby NR^An explanation of Dolby technology could go here !^|3^Bi-wired^A speaker with seperate terminals to connect it's woofer and tweeter to the amplifier.^|43^Analogue^A signal that is as exact replica of the original sounds waveform. An example of an analogue device is a cassette deck.^|44^Impedance^The resistance, measured in Ohms, offered to AC (alternating current) signals by a component. In loudspeaker specifications 8 Ohms is the norm, 6 Ohms is becoming more popular, but be careful with low-impedance 4 Ohm speakers because not all power amplifiers are happy driving them.^|45^RDS^Radio Data System - This is fitted to some tuners and car radios (where it's genuinely useful ) and supplies some additional information and controls signals to the tuner^|46^Sensitivity^When quoted in loudspeaker specifications, this tells you how easy a job the amplifier have driving the speaker. Measured in dB (decibels), 88dB is average, 84dB is low (so get a big amp!), and 90dB or above is very high (so a little amp will do).^|47^Tweeter^A loudspeaker's high frequency drive unit. Produces most of the treble.^|48^Watts^Used to specify amplifier or loudspeaker power handling.^|49^Woofer^A loudspeaker's low frequency drive unit.^|50^Amplifier^Hi-fi component (or any electrical circuit) that boosts signals. An amplifier is required to connect a cd player to speakers...and so on.^|51^Multiregion^This term means that the unit is capable of playing discs from anywhere in the world. The world is split into 6 regions. DVD players and discs sold within Europe are region 2. America is region 1 and so on.^|52^Multi-region^This term means that the unit is capable of playing discs from anywhere in the world. The world is split into 6 regions. DVD players and discs sold within Europe are region 2. America is region 1 and so on.^|92^WMA 9 Pro^The first digital surround sound coding technology for the Web, developed by Microsoft. When connected to a multi-channel-equipped PC, you are able to enjoy high resolution stereo or 5.1-channel surround audio at 128 k - 768 Kbps compression rates. At any given bit rate, 5-channel WMA9 Pro will bring you higher fidelity than other sound compression algorithms thanks to the latest audio codec technology.^|93^WMA 9 Pro^The first digital surround sound coding technology for the Web, developed by Microsoft. This will allow anyone who has a single HDMI connection on the TV, to connect several via the amp. The number of devices varies between models.^|96^PRFC^Test^|
