Key to the Mezzo 5's outstanding performance, is the technology that MS have packed into the compact design. Taking the highly reviewed Performance range as inspiration, Mordaunt Short developed an all new Aspirated Tweeter Technology. This tweeter venting system, allows the tweeter to "breathe" better, thereby creating a more open and less "forced" sound quality. The aluminium dome tweeter itself is a development of a design that MS have perfected over the past 20 years.
Yet it's not just the tweeter that has received Mordaunt Short's expert attention. Mordaunt Short have been making their famous Continuous Profile Cones (CPC) for over 8 years now, and the twin woofers used in the Mezzo 5 take this technology to new heights. With the sound deadened woofer chassis, each bass unit delivers a sound every bit as pure and untainted as the treble.
Of course, it matters little how good the woofer and treble are if the cabinet can't live up to their quality. Fortunately the Mezzo 5's cabinet is more than a match. From its curved sides that reduce standing waves to the substantial cabinet, the Mezzo 1's cabinet is as rock solid and as substantial as its sound quality.
