At the heart of the 40 CD is a fully customised version of the ESS ES9039Q2M chipset and HyperStream IV Dual DAC technology. Cyrus analysed every component and has tuned the board layout to achieve the best possible CD performance. Combined with the use of superior quality components throughout, the result is incredible accuracy and precision that unpicks every element of sound.

Advanced power supply
With a complex mix of analogue and digital components, clean, consistent power is crucial for a CD player to sound its best. For the purest sound possible, the 40 CD runs dedicated digital control circuits, with other sections of the player powered by an over-sized universal power supply. Nine, individual stage regulators smooth and distribute power within the player, according to demand, ensuring the lowest distortion possible.

As good as the 40 CD is, it can be made better still by adding a 40 PSU power supply. Over the past three decades, Cyrus’s famous power supplies have been a ‘must have’ upgrade, and the latest one is no different. Adding a 40 PSU provides separate power supplies to critical components, helping to optimise every element of sound. The power supply takes over feeding the analogue side of the DAC, leaving the digital section to the internal supply. Separate supplies for the motors and master clock lower noise and reduces jitter – giving you lower distortion and the most precise sound possible.
