It’s all in the timing - high-precision audio clock output interface
In order for the DAC to receive the best possible signal, transport timing is critical. The Master Edition improves on the already impressive DMP-A8 Gen 2 by featuring an oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO). This holds the crystal at a constant temperature, banishing frequency drift for significantly improved signal stability. Furthermore, phase-locked-loop (PLL) circuitry across all the outputs ensures the highest clarity and lowest distortion, whatever the output connection.

Clock input for studio-grade potential
Another step-up with the Master Edition is the option to add an outboard clock. Using a separate master clock with both transport and compatible DAC means that the entire digital chain is controlled by a signal clock oscillator, working at 10 MHz (50 ohms). Simply put, the timing is in complete unity, delivering the most accurate sound possible.

Built-in CD player
Further extending the DMP-A8 Master Edition Gen 2’s playback versatility, you’ll find a built-in CD drive. This is not only ideal for CD playback but also makes it easy to rip discs straight off to a local or network attached storage device.
