One of the most discreet floorstanding speakers available, the Monitor Audio Radius 270 gives a big sound from a slim cabinet.

The discreet floorstander

Think floorstanding speaker and you'll probably draw to mind a large and cumbersome box that totally dominates its environment. The Radius 270 is a floorstander with a different take on style. At just 17.7cm wide and 21cm deep it has a very compact footprint. Smooth good looks also help it blend in with an ability lost to many floorstanding speakers.

Monitor Audio quality
Despite its sleek good looks, the radius 270 doesn't settle for less than excellence in the sound quality stakes. The latest Radius range comes with gold C-CAM dome tweeters. These give the ideal balance between detail and smoothness. Upper frequencies stay clear and uncongested - even at high volume levels where inferior designs begin to distort. Twin C-CAM woofer units not only provide an insightful mid-range but also help boost bass to the levels expected from floorstanding speakers. Offering a well-balanced and accurate sound, the Radius 270s suit a wide range of music.

Riffled ports for controlled bass
To boost the bass and speaker efficiency, the Radius 270 speakers are fitted with both front and rear bass ports. The innovative HiVe II port design features riffled grooves to help reduce air turbulence. It's this that helps give the Radius 270 bass that's both fast and powerful.

Luxurious finish
With smooth, seamless edges and neat detailing, the Radius 270 is a premium quality speaker. Available in real walnut veneer or high gloss black or white it's finished to a very high standard and complements the smartest decors.

Beautiful, discreet and powerful-sounding, there are few that match the Radius 270 as all-rounders.

Speaker Enclosure TypeType of speaker enclosure. Infinite baffle cabinets are sealed and so are often less fussy about placement. Usually they do require a little more power to drive, though. Bass reflex speakers are usually more efficient than infinite baffle designs but may require more care in terms of placement. Rear port designs, in particular, usually need at least 15-30cm (6 - 12 inches) between them and the wall behind, for a balanced bass response.
