Evolution of a winner
Following on from an award-winner which itself traces its lineage back to the 1980s AE1 model, the Acoustic Energy AE Active has evolved from a family of greats. The truly active design features analogue amplification and AE’s signature metal drivers for the ideal combination of power, detail and breathtaking precision. Following four decades of tradition, the AE Active features metal dome tweeters for brilliant detail. The new rear chamber reduces resonance for improved dynamics and lifelike precision. WDT (Wide Dispersion Technology) works in harmony with the drivers for seamless integration with the midrange and bass.
Smooth, natural midrange performance
Just like the tweeter, the woofer cone uses aluminium for light weight and rigidity. In this case, the spun aluminium is hard anodised on both sides, further enhancing its performance, meaning you get to hear every subtle nuance of midrange detail.

Using a high power motor system, with a new aluminium shorting ring, the AE Active speakers deliver deep, powerful bass, with incredibly low levels of distortion for such small speakers. For small active speakers that punch hard, the AE Actives are hard to beat.
Analogue amplification
For the authentic Acoustic Energy sound signature, the AE Actives are analogue all the way. From the linear power supply to the Class A/B amplifier, line-level crossover and EQ, every element of sound is processed in the analogue domain. With 50 watts per driver, these are true active speakers, with astonishing precision and control. The powerful amps also mean that room-filling, party pumping volume is easy to achieve – even from these compact speakers. Individual bass and treble controls let you trim the sound to suit.

Featuring pro-standard XLR balanced inputs and typically precise sound quality, the AE Active speakers make ideal monitors in small or travel studios.
